I saw in Lake Charles they have it for $1.55. From what I understand it is not supposed to be as efficient, but what kind of mileage drop are people actually seeing?

I don't run it but I understand the MPG drop is about 20%

depends how fast youre driving, really

Never have. Never will. I buy ethanol free every chance I get.

I have heard that if you drive faster you save mileage

A flex fuel vehicle won't see power gains. But, if your setup is tuned for it and run it like race gas it will make more power, 20% range. Then again you aren't looking for mpg anyway if running it like race gas.

Interesting nonetheless. I had an flexfuel truck about 6 years ago, never saw any e85 for sale the whole time I owned it, just wondered what kind of experiences people have had. Thanks.

I haven't, but I'm pretty sure in my owners manual (flex-fuel vehicle), it calls for more frequent oil changes when running E85. Just a heads up

On forced induction vehicles, the power gain is great if you use it like race gas. A stock hellcat challenger dyno'd at 672 rwhp/600 rwtq ton93, and on e85, same stock challenger went for 753rwhp/670rwtq

We've tried it. The efficiency SUX! Ethanol is the largest lie every perpetrated on world.

The faster you drive the better MPG you make

If you're computer is programmed specifically to make power on E85, you can make more power than on 92 or 93

This. I ran a full tank of regular unleaded and then E85 while travelling. All highway driving.

It's a godsend to someone like me who is looking to make big power in a force induction car and is set up to do so. It's cheap, very detonation resistant and the effect of all the fuel going in the cylinder keeps everything cool. Downsides are it is not readily available most places and it absorbs water from the air so it cannot be stored long term.
All that being said, totally not worth it TO ME in a daily driver. It is pretty much a wash, sure it's cheaper but I want to get as many miles out of a tank as possible and the other posters are right, a mileage loss of 20-30 percent is normal.
