Same ole shite with fox sports channels. They hold providers hostage, and force the consumers against them. You try to fight these tards, but customer refuses to see the bottom line, they just want their soccer/baseball/etc, but then bitch when price of their tv service goes up.

I will never forget like 5-6 years ago the USMNT and Mexico played and it was on Telemundo, but to watch it in English you had to watch it on Mun Dos.

I've never heard of that channel again, but they had like a free weekend and showed the game on there. It was the worst thing ever.

Is this just certain areas? Or does the channel go away the day of the game? I just checked and still have both Fox Sports in HD in Houston.

Or is the game just not going to be on the channel? I remember I couldn't find the USA Switzerland game on live.

Yeah. Why isn't this on ESPN? Those guys would NEVER do something like this.

Wow, just checked and they are showing darts instead. What is the reason for that? It would make sense if this was a beIn sport thing and I just didn't get the channel, but how are they just not going to show it?

While true, FOX deserves less leverage for their piece of shite products

Not only is their coverage shitty in comparison to ESPN, they are also new in terms of 24-hour sports coverage. They have no leverage.

Live sports is the only thing holding the current TV model together. It's the only non-DVRable (I know *we* do it with Euro games) media still out there.

Why do you think EVERY sport/league has gotten record TV deals lately?

Fox Sports has a ton of live content from a variety of different leagues. They most certainly do have leverage.

That's some serious hyperbole right there.

And by the way, that leverage is thrown out the window when other channels are broadcasting the games.

Big East, Big 12, Pac 12, MLB, MLS, Bundesliga (next year), NASCAR ( ), just on FS1/FS2.

That's not considering content on the Fox Regionals which broadcast Gad-damned EVERYTHING.

Again, live sports content providers drive the bus right now. Fox Sports is just getting their piece of the pie from distributors - a piece of pie that is probably pennies on the dollar to what ESPN is charging.

ETA: Oh yeah - and UEFA Champions League.

All are non-exclusive contracts.

Has absolutely nothing to do with FS1/FS2 i.e. I was able to watch the Pelicans game on FS New Orleans on UVerse.

But when you don't have much exclusivities, viewers aren't as forced as you think.

ESPN has earned that due to longevity, being around for 30+ years. FS1... not so much.

I know it's coming and I'm still going to lose my fricking mind when Fox fricks up the next two world cups with their shitty watered down coverage and they're 100% going to put WC games on FS1 and FS2

Nothing wrong with this. They'll use big Fox as well. The problem is that their coverage for previous games and tournaments has missed the mark and is just so out of touch.

People bitch about ESPN a lot, and most of it is warranted, but when they started giving a shite about soccer, their coverage (studio shows, feature stories, broadcast teams) in the 2006, 10 & 14 World Cups were damn near perfect.

There is a huge problem with this. Cox in Nola and BR only carry FS2 in shitty standard definition
