Cannabis can kill cancer cells and shrink one of the most serious types of brain tumours, new advice reveals.
The National Institute on Drug Abuse in the US has admitted, in its revised publication on marijuana, that the drug offers benefits to some cancer patients.
The report states: 'Recent animal studies have shown that marijuana extracts may help kill certain cancer cells and reduce the size of others.
'Evidence from one animal study suggests that extracts from whole-plant marijuana can slow the growth of cancer cells from one of the most serious types of brain tumours.

May or may not be a bit suprising to some.

Marijuana aside...

I hate vague reports like this. MAY kill SOME kind of cancer cell in an animal and COULD slow a bad cancer in an animal. Ok...? That's the best they could explain that?

Pretty standard language for med/pharm-centric papers.

Zero medical use + high abuse potential is what defines schedule 1, I believe.

Marijuana is inaccurately classified as a schedule 1 substance by the federal government. It should, at worst, be schedule 2, as it does have high abuse potential but at least some benefit. The negative effects aren't particularly devastating, though.

it does have high abuse potentia

Say what?

Its not addictive. If you say Marijuana has high abuse potential, you could say Benadryl has high abuse potential.

What schedule is alcohol? It has super high abuse potential and is actually addictive.
