11% of all players that are drafted into the pros, touch their foot on an MLB field for a minimum of one day.

How many play for free? So Pilot is right.

I meant majors and you know it. I was using his terminology.

Is that an average stat? One year stat?

I'll post more in a bit but defensive speedsters can make it to the pros
this is what i was saying. They have become like lefthanded relievers. Speciality type players that don't exactly need to hit well.

problem is neither show a great track record for SB and have weak arms.
Good but not great base stealers. Can be improved with coaching, but you can't really teach their speed.
Arms are on the weak side but most of these speed guys arent great throwers even at hte MLB level

Agreed. If you can play 70 defense at SS, CF or C, you can make it to the pros. The secondary skill tied to defense at the those positions is more arm for SS and C and more speed for CF. So their lack of plus arm strenth won't hold them back as much as other positions.
I would say for Laird he may want to come back and play CF for a season so that he can prove he can handle the position. It all will depend on how much money he can get this year and his family situation. Personally I wouldn't go pro unless i could get 200-250k. I'd take the risk of developing a better bat, stealing bases, and showing i can play CF if I was only getting 100k or so.

Not sure you are questioning me, but here it goes. For every 100 players that are drafted by the 30 MLB teams, only 11 will ever step foot on the field as an MLB player. If a player steps on the field for one day, that counts in the 11%. And, that happens more than you might think. Shoeless Joe Jackson was only one of many that get a touch, but never get a second touch.
