Obviously the Biltmore, Maggie Valley in general is really nice.
I always go up to Boone when I get a chance.

So you're traveling from the north?

The Biltmore is a must. I'd recommend spending an entire day there. It is well worth it. There are plenty of things to do and places to eat while there. Take the guided tour.

Check Asheville's calendar. There is always an event or festival going on.

I hope you are a beer snob! Asheville is one of the best cities in America for beer lovers. They offer "brews cruises" there and I would highly recommend going on one of those.

Driving the Blue Ridge Parkway is another must. Drive up to Black Mountain and turn around on the Blue Ridge and drive back.

Ha I'm behind enemy lines here in Kentucky for graduate school. Me and the woman are traveling to some great locations since a lot of great venues are within driving distance while we are here for three years.

We definitely want to do the Biltmore and botanical gardens. Just curious if there were any hidden gems....I appreciate any help!

On your way to Aville stop in Abingdon VA. In the little down town area there is an old hardware store turned into bbq restaurant. Eat there and order the ribs with memphis sweet rub and baby bakers. You're welcome.

Take a day and head to Black Mountain.

Eat at My Father's Pizza, get ice cream at the ice cream shop (name escapes me) and drop by Montreat's campus.

I would stay at the Aloft hotel. Tons of breweries around. Go to the basement of the Wicked Weed brewery, where they serve their more exotic beer offerings. Go see a show at the Orange Peel. Sierra Nevada just built a new brewery outside of town near the airport, haven't been yet but I've seen pictures and it looks cool.

Go to Wicked Weed and drink a Freak of Nature on the patio.

Go to Biscuit Head and get breakfast.

Yeah, if you are into beer Sierra Nevada and Oskar Blues both have breweries near Asheville that have recently opened. New Belgium will be open at the end of the year.
