I have a bed in front of my house that faces due south and gets mostly full sun. Over the past five years I have tried Encore Azaleas, Lorapetalum, and Gardenias with little to no success. They all seem to die within a year. I have Indian Hawthorne that survives and thrives along with small annual plants. Does anyone have recommendations other than Indian Hawthorne as to what might work best for this bed?

First get a soil sample and send to lsu , if you are killing lorapetalums something ain't right, probably the ph

Knock out roses are easy and hardy pineapple guava , camellias Japanese magnolia

Thanks for the advice. I will get the soil tested and I suspect the p.h. is hight.
