I normally purchase Extra Innings every year, but then I looked into the sports pack and realized they carry most of the MLB teams networks...so instead of 200 bucks you can pay 14 bucks a month, and for a shirt time they're offering half off that for 6 months, so you can get the sports pack for the entire season for 7 bucks a month.

Those games are blacked out on those channels once the free preview is over.

You will have to buy extra innings to see out of market games.

No way, I thought that was for your local market team?

Nope. The only games you'll be able to watch if you don't subscribe to extra innings are your local market team's games.

I thought the same thing when I first got DirecTV but YES, SportSouth, NESN, MASN, etc. blackout during games if you are not authorized to view Extra Innings.

Only time you will be "authorized" if you don't subscribe is during free preview weeks.

Exactly. I believe you get this for two weeks a year. Opening Week and the week post ASB.

Very occasionally, you can get a free out of market game on there somehow, but I have only had that like a dozen times.

not only do they black the games out, but after the time limit(usually 3 1/2 hours) on telecast, you would be able to click over and watch the games. Blackout left after the time limit type deal, but it seems they have stopped that.

Would always catch 8th,9th inning of AL games, and OT in hockey games. Now the shite is blacked out till the broadcast is over.

You do know that you can order the package on MLB.tv for 129.99 and then stream to TV?

I fell victim to the same thing about a month ago with the nba.

I was new to direct TV, and the guy assured me I'd get all these games, so I grabbed the package at the new member rate of $7/month. Had to cancel a day later when I figured out that dude embellished what the regional sports package offered.

I don't mind paying the 20 bucks more so I don't have to deal with the Apple TV every time...plus it comes with MLB.tv when you order through directv

I've got mlb.tv and use the chromecast my girlfriend won for free. I just change the hdmi input on the tv, press the chromecast button on my mlb at bat app, and boom, it's on the screen in full HD.

You ever think that some people might like to have the ability to watch on all the televisions in their house? He only paid 30 more bucks than you and can do that and gets a subscription to mlb.tv with that.
