Are sunscreens becoming less effective or what?

I remember in the 90's when I was a kid, my mom would put some SPF 10 (!!!) on us and other than reapplying it after a few hours, we NEVER got burnt. Even after being in and out of the water constantly.
Now I slather SPF 30 or 50 on and reapply it even more often and I feel like it's about a 50/50 chance of it working or not. What gives?

Global warming, no more ozone layer

Modern day sunscreen can't compete with today's polluted uv rays, brought on by global warming. The end is near.

Maybe your skin is more sensitive now that you're older because your mom didn't love you enough as a kid to buy you better sunscreen to protect you properly.

SPF 10 and 15 was standard back then. I think 30 was around but 25 was about the highest you usually saw.

It's because the Sun is 20 years older so that means it is stronger.

These two have nothing to do with one another.

Get Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide based sunscreens. The chemical sunscreens do not work as well as physical sunscreens.

Got roasted last year on Day 1 in Ernge Beach with some pantywaist SPF 20 BS. We had another week so I nutted up and hit the Solarcaine away from the sun and when we went back out spackled with the 100 SPF. My entire upper body and beak looked like I was a Country Club Life Guard home from Summer Break's nose.
Didn't even peel from the initial burn brah. Learn the lesson: Overapply early, and then back down if you feel like it.
