Buying scalp concert tickets online - sellers wont reveal seat #'s.. Why?

Pretty common practice apparently. Some guys will tell you in a private email but most wont.... they all say "to protect the seller and the buyer". How is anyone being protected exactly? (no barcodes are displayed or anything like that)

Because the seat number gives away who purchased the tickets, and can thus be traced for ticket scalping in the secondary market.

PS but the seat #s are revealed two minutes later once you buy the tickets. Wouldn't they be revealed then?

I would think you are the only one that can actually see the seat# once purchased. In other words, if you could see before, you are advertising that you are not selling for face.
