I throw a senko 99% of the time, but I need to get off the tit and start throwing brush hogs and stuff.

I fish NWLA, shallow banklines, grass flats, tree laydowns, etc. Usually never deeper than 5-6ft.

I see people talk about using "the lightest weight you can get away with". Some seem to prefer 3/16 and some 1/4oz.

The times I do use the Tx Rig, I have a 1/4oz weight on. Am I missing something by not using the 3/16 although it is a slight difference?

What is your go-to weight for certain conditions and why?

and to keep from punching through the light bottom hugging algae, moss, and grass. You want it to scoot along that grass.

Alternatively if you need to punch through dense surface grass mats I like 3/4 oz brass with a glass bead.

I like a big heavy bullet weight all the time. Imma big heavy man that likes to catch and eat big heavy fish. If a fish can't bite, suck down and haul arse with my big heavy weighted worm, I don't want to frick with him.

Pretty much the only size I use. I do like the brass 3/4 oz bullet weights with a glass bead as well.

I used a 1/8 90% of the time, unless the wind is blowing too hard, then move up to a 1/4. I think heavier weights mess up the natural action of creature baits.

If i want something that falls faster than a brushhog, i usually just go to something with less relistence, like a beaver or something.

Most of the time.
Bank fishing is different, when I'll go to 1/4 or 3/16, but when flipping trees or brush it's 3/8 or 1/2 (reaction bites from fast fall). Grass I'll fish 3/4 or 1 oz to punch with. JMO

You need light and heavy. If you are flipping into thick grass, you need heavy like bp said. If its more of finesse fishing, i would go with a 1/8 and let it fall.

My default is 3/16oz. BIG difference to me between that and 1/4oz or 1/8oz. If I'm fishing finesse worms or other smaller baits (baby rage craw for example) or if I'm fishing extremely shallow water (less than 18"), I'll throw a 1/8oz. I very rarely throw a 1/4oz unless I'm fishing current that dictates it.

If I'm punching grass, I'm pegging a 3/4oz or 1oz tungsten weight.

For beating the bank, this.

I'll only go heavier if I'm fishing deeper. Or currents.

And I default to a 1 oz pegged tungsten when punching.

Yep but you can go 1/16 or even weightless when you're that shallow....weightless keeps it in the "strike zone" a lot longer

3/16 is my default also.

I use 1/4 when fishing deeper water, like 15-20 ft. For flipping grass I like 1/4 or 5/16. For punching I use anywhere from 3/4 to 1-1/2 depending on the thickness of the grass. 3/4 is perfect for punching hydrilla on Toledo, but it's too light for big mats of hay grass or water hyacinth.

No clue. I just know I have a little one on my finesse line and a normal sized one on my main line.

It matters, a few years back my FIL caught 10-12 vs. my ZERO in about an hour. Both throwing Watermelon red Baby brush hogs. I had a 1/8 oz weight, he had a 1/16 oz.

Needless to say i stole a weight from his tacklebox that day.
