If the Cubs feel Addison Russel is ready in a week or so could they deal Castro?

The #Padres and aggressive A.J Preller still aren't done dealing. They are now scouring the shortstop market, teams say.

Other guy could be Elvis Andrus but I couldn't see that happening with Profar out.

Padres minor league system is pretty bare right now though

If they can acquire a player like Castro this team will be really good

do they at this point have any pieces left to trade...assuming they don't want to gut the major league team?

The cubs need an OF(maybe) and pitching, doesn't feel like a match there.

If he wants Castro, he better bring a big basket of Padre prospects because he's asking for a 3 time all star on a team friendly deal. Shortstops don't grow on trees (unless you're the Cubs).

i think the Cubs would want pitching in return. SD gave up its best arm already

Renfroe maybe? They don't have a lot left that matches up to the Cubs needs and if they trade a SP they'd be creating another hole

Well they could ask for Trea Turner, Renfroe, and maybe some other guys.... not a real position of need for the Cubs but it is better to be stacked than hurting

Yeah they've traded like half of their top 20 prospects

I think Renfroe is their top remaining guy according to most of those rankings. They don't have shite for pitching

if that's what they've got left, then i guess really going all in on this year is almost necessary...so no wonder they want a SS

With that lot of prospects, I doubt Castro is in their price range. Unless they deal Cashner and their best prospect.

Renfroe and Hedges are both pretty good prospects.

The guys they got in a lot of those deals are pretty young- Upton, Myers, Middlebrooks, Kimbrel, Norris are all 24-27 and Kemp is 30. I think they are hoping those deals will make them competitive immediately and then they can rebuild the system in the meantime. I'm just not as sold on them being good right away as others

I kind of forgot about Hedges but I think he really struggled at the plate last year so people are still sort of split on him
