A Japanese university has opened a museum acknowledging that its staff dissected downed American airmen while they were still alive during World War Two.
The move is an striking step in a society where war crimes are still taboo and rarely discussed, although the incident has been extensively documented in books and by US officials.
A gruesome display at the newly-opened museum at Kyushu University explains how eight US POWs were taken to the centre’s medical school in Fukuoka after their plane was shot down over the skies of Japan in May 1945.
There, they were subjected to horrific medical experiments - as doctors dissected one soldier’s brain to see if epilepsy could be controlled by surgery, and removed parts of the livers of other prisoners as part of tests to see if they would survive.

(BTW, read in the article about how the civilian population reacted to these American airmen when they first came into contact. I think their reaction gives a good indication of how the civilian population would have fought tooth and nail had we invaded.)

General Douglas MacArthur later commuted all death sentences when he was military governor of Japan and all the perpetrators were released.

Trying to figure out why their penises were blurry and US penises were not

I can perfectly understand why an Old vet today would still hate Japanese people. Unlike Germany, Japanese culture has not accepted that Imperial Japan was evil and barbaric.

Its not like our gov't has never pulled incredibly fricked up shite like that before.
I don't see that as being any more horrifying than something like the Tuskegee syphilis experiments that we were doing right around the same time.

While watching the olympics a japanese skater made a nice jump and my grandmother said "if she didnt do it good she would be killed in her country" but I understand their hatred towards the Japanese.

Was there a reason for this?

Doctors from Japan and Germany did some horrific things to prisoners. One doc would cut off the top of a individuals head and stimulate parts of the brain to see what moved.
Many, and I mean many, of the things we now know regarding the brain were discovered by the doctors who commited these atrocities.

Not shocking if you're a history buff. For how bad the Nazi's were they treated the POWs like Kings compared to the Japanese.

You've got a point. The Japs did their messed up stuff on US & Chinese prisoners while the Germans did as bad or worse to Soviet POW's and Jews.
