Girlfriend's (no pics) phone took a dump and I'm telling her there are other options than spending 400 off contract to get a new phone.

She was content with that phone but I'm not sure what most dependable way to replace it would be for 200 or less.

What's the best way Togo about this? Not afraid of used if I'm following whatever good advice I can get here.

If she's happy with the S3, get a used S3. Might be able to get one on ebay with cheap square trade insurance.

Maybe it's just me, but something that's in my hands all day and gets as much use as my phone, I'm willing to splurge a little knowing it will give me hours upon hours of pretty dependable use and entertainment

It's a pretty cheap cost when you think about how much you use it over the course of probably 2 years

All true, but we're about to take a big (expensive) trip next month so spending more than enough to get her by makes me squirm a little bit. Just not in the mood for that.

A refurb S3 on eBay is like a $100

You can get an S4 or S4 Active for $200 or less

I bought two S4 Zooms for two of my inspectors for $160 each
