@Braves: #Braves acquire RHP Trevor Cahill and cash considerations from Diamondbacks in exchange for minor-league outfielder Josh Elander
Mark Bowman @mlbbowman
One source said the #Braves will be responsible for $5.5M of Cahill's $12M salary.

Nice!
Now the Bravos will only finish 21 games out of first place!

Heard they're going Dutch with the Dbacks on his $12 million owed. #Ooodababy

Just saw Vizcaino was popped 80 games for PED's. That sucks

Is Archie ready or what?
Unless a 24 year old who hit .200 in A ball in 2014 is what Arizona was after, one has to assume Bradley is. Or, at least, the DBacks believe he is.

You never know because it is Arizona.

Archie has been excellent in Spring and Cahill was just good enough in spring to find someone to take some of his salary. Even outside of Archie the D-Backs have enough young pitching they would like to get opportunities that Cahill was just in the way for.
I would much rather give a young guy experience while losing 90+ games than hope Cahill can return to the form he had in his one good year in Oakland and we only lose 80 games.

Acquiring Cahill for 6ish million doesn't make sense for this season but neither did signing Markakis (unless Cahill puts it together and can be traded at the deadline).
Cahill's pitch independent stats weren't that bad. ERA only tells you so much of a story and there's enough to suggest he will give us 200+ innings of solid pitching. Anything more is a bonus.
