I am married, but have been on plenty that were terrifying. I have a 38 year old friend who is going on a first date for the first time since his first wife and him quit it for good (just got divorced in October). He just texted me asking where for Saturday night is the best date place and what should they do after that's not a total delirium drunk-fest? I know...drunker the better. BUT...he thinks he wants to go slow.

If/when you go on a first date, what do you think are success tips, places to eat vs. where not to eat, how much and where and what to drink, and what to do after dinner and besides a bar...especially if it's definitely not going to be a home run on the first date.

BUT...he's embarrassed. His biggest fear is that people will know he's on a date. I told him, "This is how I got married", but he is trying to hint to a place that's great food without a lot of people. I hinted Nino's to him, but he said she is not an Italian fan . What ya got besides PIIHB? I even suggested a day date in New Orleans...which would have to force the hand of hotel room and 1 bed or 2...or 2 rooms!?

I really hope it's just your online persona that's a downer.

In BR? Zippy's may as well throw-in a complimentary condom with the nachos, because you are getting-in afterward.

Details dammit. What area are we talking about? BR, Shreveport, Paris?

Does he know anything about her? I mean ANYTHING?

Unless she's 10+ yrs younger than he is dating really hasn't changed that much for ppl of that age group.

People put way too much pressure on that shite. and they sabotage it. dating is the #1 thing thats kept me single for years. its a blast

Buddies i talk to fumble and frick it up alot worrying if the chick will like them. shite im always trying to figure out if i like HER

If im not feeling her in the first hour or two im trying to get the hell outta there. ASAP time to text somebody for an escape call

Wherever he plans to go, drive the route the night before to get used to parking, the area, traffic, etc. It doesn't sound like much, but it gets you prepared and will take his mind off the date.

It's the only thing you can really prepare for and still act naturally. Gives an feeling of confidence at the beginning of the date that will carry through and she will notice.

Show her around the plant. Tell her about how it's where dreams are made.

Also, don't agree with everything she says. In fact give the impression that she kinda pissed you off with something she said.

Don't make a big deal about it and quickly dismiss it. But make sure she knows. She will be thinking of that the next day and want to make it up to you/him

God, what's with all the anxiety? Sounds like your friend is 16 not 38.

Unless dating has changed last 10 years it's really not that complicated as some make it out to be. Don't try and be a dick or "pretend you don't care" that's so freaking gay, just be yourself, if she doesn't like you then frick it, who cares. Don't make it a game, that's gay.

Dude doesn't have a chance.

Dinner is the shittiest first date imaginable. Let him know that at least.
