I thought I would give the MBers a heads up on TIDAL--a new music streaming service that offers a huge library (25 MM songs and growing) streamed in CD quality resolution (16 bit/44.1k). That is about 10x the resolution of your MP3 files and all other music streaming services out there.

I have been using it for about 3 weeks in the Big Rig and it is pretty darn good. I will give Rhapsody the ax in the near future as I get more familiarized with the interface.

I understand that TIDAL was purchased by Jay-Z recently.

The cost is $19.99/mo.

It may not be for everyone, but for those that want that little extra air, space, and presence for their listening enjoyment, it fits the bill.

44.1k is the sample rate, not the frequency response. Maybe you should research audio bit/sample rates and understand how they work before making statements like you did.

...and if you can't tell the difference in the sound quality of an MP3 file and a CD, you either need to have your ears checked or upgrade from the iPod/earbud combo...

Like him or not, he is a hell of a businessman. He realized that TIDAL has exploded out of the gate because people want better quality music than what has been offered to the masses for years. Not everyone is content with Wal-mart standards.

Enjoy the listen...

But the nerds on the tech board told me this was impossible and gave me a whole bunch of shite for listening to CDs.
