San Francisco Wine Tours

Anyone have any good Napa/Sonoma tours that will pick you up from SF and bring you back? The one my hotel recommend had us going to three wineries, including Sutter Home. Seemed like we could do better than that. Tried googling but there just seemed like there was so much out there and was wondering if anyone here had any positive experiences.

Ignore what your hotel is pushing will you have a car or would want to hire a driver? Or are you relegated to tour buses?

We had a positive experience with Anthony at extranomical tours . We hit 5 wineries and also stopped off in Sausolito on the way back to the hotel . He will make recommendations , but is also open to suggestions . You will have a blast . If you have time hit the rogue bar and the Toronado bar ....

Rent a car with driver for the day. Pick the ones you want to go to. Will cost about 5hundo. Totally worth it.

Had a good experience with Tom in the link below. Has suggestions but you could always pick certain wineries according to your tastes. He has been doing it for years so he does have some hook ups at certain places.

We could definitely rent a car, ideally though nobody would have to drive. Hiring a driver may be a little pricey though, we are definitely trying to keep this well under $500.

Is it a one day trip up? I would go at least two if you can. We usually do about 6-7 days.
If so, rent a car and split all the tastings. ..if you get a little tipsy eat something or let the wife have more.
I would start at Domain Chandon or Domaine Carneros then bounce to maybe a Paraduxx, sinskey or chimney rock then do Gotts roadside if you are on a budget or Redd, Farmstead or Bouchon if not. Mustards Grill would be a nice option too. Skip wine at lunch. Then hit up a Chappallett, Heitz, Elizabeth Spencer, plumpjack...then sober up while strolling Healdsburg....then maybe Farmstead, Bouchon, Don Giovanni or even Fish in Sausalito on the way home...the Golden Gate is an awesome drive at night.
San Fran: mission chinese, hog and rocks, tonga room, Burmese or Afghani food, spqr, A16.

Do Sonoma County and when you do make sure you head to Zichichi Family Vineyards. Why? 1-They make some of the best Zin anywhere. 2-They make a killer Petite Syrah. 3-The owner, Dave Zichichi is an LSU grad, former LSU/Saints Ortho Surgeon and willing to sit and talk LSU and Saints football with you. Also has some pretty cool LSU and Saints memorabilia inside the winery. Just saying.

He hates the saints. But he does barrel tastings every day, not just passport weekend.
That winery is tucked way in back of Dry Creek.

That's a very far drive from sf which is why I kept my recs mostly south of St helena.
And while it was good zin...we had several better ones last trip. It gets hyped by LA people bc he is from here and is a nice guy.
