I grew up in a neighborhood with 30+ kids within 4 years of my age. That shite happened all the time.

I feel sorry for your kids.

You should let a real man raise them.

I bet your wife has a bigger dick than you do.

Same here, and we didn't need 18 to play a good game. We could play with as few as 9 if we had to, just make three teams of three, 6 in the field (no catcher) and three batting.

This. Maybe in basketball you can go down to a nearby court and find some pickup games, but other sports not so much.

There are pickup soccer games all around Lafayette for sure.

My son just started his 3rd season of baseball. Pick a city/parish league and sign up. Besides registration and some basic equipment, it's not expensive. My son has same bat and helmet for 3rd year in a row now. Registration was like $60 and covers the whole season. $25 cleats and $20 pants and $10 belt.
Not every organized league is like travel ball or some shite where they pay every tournament.

I grew up in a neighborhood with about 4-6 boys near my age. We managed to play 3, 4, 5, and 6 man games (basketball, baseball, football, soccer, roller hockey) daily until it was too dark for us to see the ball. We'd also play mini games in the morning waiting for the bus. Don't give me that bs about having to find 18 guys to play. If kids can't figure it out, they're lazy.

Pitch to yourself
Catch for yourself
Ghost runner
Qb for both
Straight bases
No hitting to right field

Figure it out and deal with it.

Home plate was a water meter valve box, home run was if you hit the house two yards down, flip flops or the other team's gloves for bases.

You don't understand the concept of ghost runners.

First, you should never "push" your kid into anything like this. Then it's more for you than it is for them.

Second, if there is a lot and the kids want to play on it more power to them. (We bought one of the last empty lots in our subdivision which had been used for lots of pick up sports by the younger kids and I kinda felt bad about taking that away from them - but it wouldn't have held them as they grew anyway and they all had a ball anyway playing kick the can, hide and tossing footballs and baseballs around).

Third, as someone up thread said, go rec ball. If you have a well or even decently run rec department it gives the benefits of organization without the drawbacks of people and companies in it to make money. Rec ball is not really expensive - here it was like 25 bucks and included a shirt, a cap (it's been awhile but it may have even included the pants). Each team generally has a few bats and has catcher's equipment. Pretty much everyone can afford it. And the kids enjoy playing with and against their friends at a nice shady ball park.
