Well then put that bitch in her fricking place. You want me to talk to her?

I think I made her feel bad

Texted her "sorry but it's just part of being a nurse....I'm sure the kids hate having to be in the hospital on Easter as well"

Her reply "we understand"

Her and her daughter are not getting along right now so I think she just really wanted me there to have another female to talk to.

I yelled at my mother in law so bad one time she cried for 3 days....haven't had a problem with her since though.

Nurse's attention whoring is not as blatant as Paige's, but it is arguably just as effective.

:nice:

I got lucky in that department... my MIL is super nice and super passive. I could tell her "bitch, get in the kitchen and make me a sandwich" and she'd ask what kind of sandwich I wanted. Too bad her daughter didn't learn anything from her...

I could never yell at my MIL....she's too nice and would likely cry for weeks over it.

But yeah.....I see the issues her daughter has with her in regards to my nephew and man it makes me nervous when I have a kid

Be careful Terd. You don't wanna bite the hand that feeds you. Without them you're unemployed as I understand

My old man works every holiday possible. I understand it some may not.

My Dad has worked shift work for 30 years. I think beyond my brother and myself and my mom, he was glad to miss extended family shite.

My parents have never given me a hard time about holidays. I talk to my mom on the phone all the time, and I visit/see them plenty. Some random holiday isn't necessary to see each other.

I had friends that couldn't even go on Spring Break vacations because their parents didn't want them to miss Easter. I always thought that was so weird.

Best post I've read in a long time.

eta: Not necessarily in regards to your situation, Nurse. Just in general with people

What issues?

My kids aren't allowed to stay at my mother in law's without someone else there better at taking care of kids.

Just silly stuff.

She let her mom watch her kid at first while she still taught. Then my MIL couldn't watch for 2 weeks cause of an ongoing knee injury. Sister in law finds a daycare instead and all hell broke out...,MIL upset, blah, blah, blah. Now that my sister in law stays at home and they are both retired....you would think no issue them getting to see him. Think again....every time she tries to bring him over they have other plans or its "not a good time" but yet my MIL always saying she never gets to see her grandson. The other issue is that my sister in law's inlaws all live 2 minutes away so they see their grandson all the time.

we've always adjusted family holidays for cases like that. unless it conflicted with someone elses schedule. then you find out who the favorites are.

I think that's part of my MIL's hangup. She always has to kind of compete with her daughter's inlaws(the ones that live right by her daughter). They don't even try to work around people's schedules. They just say when it is...and everyone has to work around it...including my MIL when scheduling her holiday get togethers. That's why I would rather her not worry about my work schedule. I appreciate her trying...but she already stresses over when her daughter can be there...just work around that and I will try my best to be there if work allows.
