Lowes, Walmart, and home depot all sell 50 lbs. bags of top soil for about $1.50 a bag.

Have the dogs quit digging? Just backfill with the dirt they dug out.

Just did this to fill in low spots from some trees I had cut down. $30 worth was more than enough. Got the cheap top soil from Lowes.

If you have a lot of holes, most nurseries sell topsoil by the truck load. I get my truck bed filled w topsoil for less than $40.

That topsoil they sell in bags won't last one day with dogs that dig. You need some of that river silt that one of the posters mentioned.

I'd pass by a gravel pit and ask them to put a scoop of sand in the back of your truck. They shouldn't charge you. Dogs are gonna dig it out anyway. Might as well use something cheap/free.

Mix some of their shite in the holes when you fill them

Sometimes it will stop them from digging there

The topsoil they sell in bags is sterilized, ie no weeds or termites

You decide if saving 15 dollars over filling a few holes is worth it.

River sand/silt usually has a lot of weed seeds. Torpedo grass is spread in river sand as well. Get a load of native topsoil or go with the bagged material. If you want to use sand use coarse or Mason sand.

My dad put rat traps in the spots where his dogs dig. They haven't touched them yet, so the learning opportunity awaits

Did you get rid of the dogs? Did they stop digging? In my experience dogs enjoy digging the topsoil or river silt you fill the holes with a lot more that just regular dirt.

Haven't tried the rat trap thing but I haven't had a digger in a while. I'll keep that in mind.
