Last Monday, I was in the gym doing incline bench. I had a little heavier weight than usual and was going fine until all of a sudden, I had an extreme pain at the base of my skull/top of spine that shot into my head. Almost like an instant migraine. It was a throbbing pain and i had to close my eyes for a few minutes just to get it to calm down.

After that happened, I took the week off from lifting. I have no problems when i run or do any type of cardio. I lifted again this morning and could tell if i strained any more, it would happen again. It actually happened over the weekend while lifting some stuff while cleaning a shed.

Sounds like a small growth behind the arterial vein in the upper mandinas scriposis. Probably cancer. Good luck

Thanks nurse. Pretty much sounds like it. I was definitely under tension while doing the lift and it came on all of a sudden then subsided after a minute or so. I'll give it another week of rest. At most, i may run by urgent care just to see if they can give me an anti-inflammatory or something to help out.

sounds like you herniated your top disc. If you don't further strain it for about a month, it won't cause further problems. If you strain it in the next few weeks though, you could develop a chronic problem.

It's called an exertion headache. First time I got one it freaked me out. Had to take 2 months off from lifting, but haven't had a problem since.

Make sure you don't hold your breath when you lift... that will make it worse.
