Continuing a trend of more than a year, Louisiana’s construction sector increased its jobs by 3,200 to a total of 136,000 by the end of February. Scott said $60 billion in ongoing big industrial projects require construction workers well beyond this year.

We even got rid of a 1.9% state and fed workers. What more could the OT ask for

It seems pretty embarressing to have the budget problems we have with this kind of growth going on.

Say what you want about Jindal and LSU, but he has been a STELLAR economic governor. This is very healthy and good growth for the state, and we have been beating the national average for a few years now.

wat?

quote:

The shortfall next year is almost entirely due to the declining revenues, and the vast majority of that is due to falling oil prices," Jindal said.

The numbers, however, don't back up the governor's explanation. More than $1 billion of the shortfall on the horizon for the fiscal year that begins July 1 can be tied to Jindal's refusal to match the state's spending to its yearly revenue over his two terms in office — as he also steadfastly refused to consider tax increases.

It's the so-called "fiscally conservative paradise" that some Politards seems to love. Cut, cut, cut, and cut some more. Don't raise taxes...ever. And give tax breaks to big entities (movie industry).

Jindal has been good economically. That doesn't mean he's been particularly good in a fiscal sense. There is a difference between excelling at fostering business growth in an area, and being able to finance one's government. Jindal has excelled at the former but is failing miserably at the latter.

That is a good point. But I don't know why he is willing to cut his nose off to spite his face.
