I was talking to a dad of one of my son's classmates and we got on the subject of vehicles for our kids when they start driving in a few years. He has decided to buy this for his son when he turns 16....

Elio Motors

Good idea or no?

Amazing how he values price over safety.

Nope. Regular cab Tacoma for my first time driver. Reliable, safe, and no space to cram people into so he/she will never be the person driving everyone around.

This, but with flames on the side.

Well that's kind of what I was thinking. Looks like if you were to have a wreck in that thing, chances are you're going to get pretty messed up.

In France, 14 year olds are driving these. I wouldn't complain.

No.

Used Corolla or a really old Volvo would be a better choice.

No. Trucks slide around too easy. Get them an older 4 runner or something.

The Elio car will never be anything more than a news article.

They are now trying to raise $300+ million that they "didnt realize they needed" to even think about beginning production.

That actually has flames on the side already. The old Harley F250s had ghost flames on the lower doors.

I plan on getting my daughter a Prius.

Safe, reliable, and instead of getting a part time job she can just hit up all of her friends that want rides for gas money and keep the profits.

That's pretty much what I'm thinking for my son in a few years as well. Something like a good used regular cab Tacoma, Ranger, or S10.
