What are some different things yall put in gumbos? Something you wouldn't consider a "normal" gumbo.

At the camp one weekend, we had a big gumbo and we ran out of rice. We used some chicken dressing and it was da bomb!

Boiled eggs
Sweet potatoes
Fresh sausage
I prefer chicken gumbo over seafood gumbo
It's quite a bit cheaper and it reheats a lot better too

Don't know if it's considered normal or not but I've had a bunch of people turn down my poule d'eau gumbo

Sweet pots are legit. Eggs are a must. Pot salad is ok. Have eaten it over dirty rice. Also legit.
