Cockpit doors will open upon decompression...

Suppose that there's an insane pilot who has locked himself in the cockpit and is heading for earth. It's a controlled descent, so you can still walk around. How do you decompress the cabin?

Why do I need to decompress the cabin? We're descending, plus I'm going to be dead in a couple of minutes.

The news media says that the Airbus has an emergency over ride that causes the cockpit doors to open upon cabin decompression. You're done if you let Adolph fly the plane into the ground. So, what if you can break a hole in the window or fuselage at 15k feet or so and go grab the stick?

Well, rather than breaking a window or Hulk smashing a hole in the fuselage, I think I'd pop an emergency exit or open a cabin door. I don't know how simple it would be to do with the pressure differential, but it would have to be easier than putting my fist through the side of a plane.

Let's say your plan works and you "grab the stick". What are you gonna do then? Start pushing random buttons?

It's impossible to open an emergency exit while the plane is flying. Simply too much pressure from the outside

You should go on shark tank and make some green money.

Airbus would find a way to frick it up.

Yeah, that'd be a pretty neat way to die, I guess.

At cruising altitude the atmospheric pressure is only 1/4 that of sea level. So if you could unlock the emergency door, all sort of things would get sucked out. Like the door itself.
I would think that those doors are locked down tight in flight. Probably no way to open.
Kinda crazy t think about.

Its funny how civilized they make that look.
In reality it would be pandemonium and you'd be overrun in an emergency.

15k feet is nothing. Bolivians ski higher than that. I'm thinking that the emergency oxygen cylinder in the med kit would have a small valve that would break out a window. One guy does that while one stands near the cockpit door to handle Adolph.

The emergency doors open to the inside of the cabin, 1/4 of sea level is about 3.6PSI, the emergency door is about 28 x 60 inches, making the force on the door 6048PSI or a little over 3 tons, nobody is going to open the door with the cabin pressurized.

I would just use my powers to keep the plane afloat and land us safely.

Cockpit door will not open with a decompression.
There is no way to decompress from the cabin. You can't open an emergency exit and even if you hit a window with a crash axe the axe would bounce off.

Does that mean all of the movies I've seen that include explosive decompression scenes, with flight attendants, bad guys, snakes and zombies getting sucked out of the plane are bullshite?!? Hard to believe that Hollywood would lie to me...

Depends on the size of the hole that caused the depressurization. Yes stuff will be sucked out of it.
Rapid depressurization in a modern day airliner is extremely rare.
