But the carriers would have to raise rates horribly to pay for them, and the shippers wouldn't take a rate increase in exchange for having to cut the amount of product they ship very well.

Foolishness, and I'm a tech guy.

Trucks are about moving as much payload as possible. The customers pay for the fuel anyway. Most of us posting will never see any of that technolgy on the road.
