I think it depends on the job and your experience.

If you are just out of college and can apply skills you learned in that sport to why you would be a good employee than it can be of value. i.e. dependability, work ethic, ability to maintain work life balance, leadership skills, team work etc...

It can say a lot more than just "I'm athletic".

See, I posted it quicker than you. Me being D1 and you being juco shows that it matters. Employers would make a big mistake hiring your slow nonathletic arse over me

That's a tad excessive. Just say "Played baseball for Ole Miss 2010-2014" and that's it. You being the MVP just tells me you're more athletic than your fellow athletic peers, and winning a national championship just means you had good team mates and a good coach.

That all I have or would suggest. I add the captain title, because i think that brings something to an employers table

Yeah, Captain is a hell of a lot more valuable than MVP if you're not going pro.

I made an "a" in badminton at LSU and beat all the Asians in the end of the year tournament. Should I put that?

I was "Harvey the Crawfish", the Nicholls State University mascot for two seasons (including that one we beat Southeastern " and I always put it on resumes. People don't realize the level of athleticism (I mean the head itself weighs like 10 pounds) it takes to earn the mascot job at a top tier school and most of my bosses have appreciated this.
