Well....if they don't think abortion is considered murder.....than how can they charge this woman with murder of the unborn baby?
Maybe charge attempted murder of mother?

Are abortions performed on 7 month old fetuses?

So they support the choice to murder an unborn baby?

You can't say abortion isn't murder because it's not a life, but then turn around and say this situation was murder. Not having consent from mom doesn't all of a sudden make it murder.
This was not murder, by the Colorado law.

For the record....I'm very much prolife and believe abortion is murder.
I would have never thought that.

"Considered." That is the key word. It is conveniently considered that it is MERELY a fetus. You just said that. The fact that there are people in the world who throw around descriptors like "merely a fetus" when describing a 7 month old human in the womb is morally sickening.

I think restrictions on late term abortions vary state by state.

Did you not read the article?
They did not charge her with murder.

I know they didn't. And understand why. Colorado doesn't recognize a fetus as a life....therefore it cannot be murdered in the law's eyes.

After the attack, prosecutors said it may be hard to muster a murder charge. Colorado state law does not recognize a fetus as a person, unless it is capable of surviving for a period of time outside the womb, a prosecutor said then.
I'm not even close to being a medical expert, but isn't 7 months old enough to possibly survive for a period of time outside the womb?
And along those lines, I find the mental gymnastics the pro choice crowd goes to in order to protect the practice of murdering innocent babies totally absurd. If you ever want an example of how morally bankrupt the liberal/progressive movement in the US is, look no further that the abortion question.

seems like a loophole in the law. Im willing to bet that the law is changed soon to recognize an act like this as murder.
Posted on 3/27/15 at 6:42 am to lsunurse
That's all I said. After reading the article and the law, it's not surprising that murder charges weren't filed. My personal beliefs are irrelevant to this case.

Colorado is too stoned to see what clearly was murder.
Posted on 3/27/15 at 6:45 am to TigerHam85
Yes but obviously you can see how the whole abortion debate tied into this though?
Colorado allows late term abortions fwiw.

Nurse, you're the expert here. Is it possible for a 7 month old to survive "for a period of time" outside the womb?
Posted on 3/27/15 at 6:49 am to lsunurse
Of course. That's why I posted my initial post "sounds like abortion to me, which isn't murder."
The state is not saying it's murder, therefore they must be labeling it as abortion.
It's unfortunate all the way around, but it's the law and I understand it.

A good friend of mine who posts on here, his daughter was about 6 weeks early at 7-7.5 months and she's doing great now, so yes, I'd say under critical care in a hospital environment it could survive.

With medical intervention....yes. That baby would need to be cared for in a NICU setting.
Posted on 3/27/15 at 6:54 am to lsunurse
Therefore it's clear to me the prosecutor in Colorado is more concerned with the politics of protecting abortion than getting justice for a mother who had her unborn child murdered.
Posted on 3/27/15 at 6:56 am to lsunurse
I agree it's murder no matter the timing or method termination.
Colorado's law states that a unborn child is considered a fetus if it cannot live outside of the womb. This was a 7 month old fetus which nowadays has a very high probability of survival. So murder right?

What if the lady was shot between the eyes? Would the shooter be prosecuted for the murder of one, or two?
Posted on 3/27/15 at 7:02 am to AllemanWC
A high probability with medical intervention though.
Maybe they only consider a baby that could survive outside womb without immediate medical intervention. No way a 28-29 weeker survives a home birth and not be rushed to hospital right away.
