Air Travel With Weapons
Not reading this thread simply because of your choice of the above bolded word. As outdoorsmen in today's fricked up society we need to promote our hobbies of shooting and hunting in a better light. A firearm or a knife is an inanimate object and therefore cannot be classified as a weapon until it is used in the act of committing a crime.
Please choose your words better in the future when talking about firearms and knives.

I don't really care if you read the thread.
I googled the word "weapon" and the first definition that popped up was
"An instrument of attack or defense in combat, as a gun, missile or sword."
This seems to describe my carry gun to a tee: if I am attacked, I am fully capable of defending myself and attacking in return.
Also., your statement that a firearm or knife "cannot be classified as a weapon until it is used in the act of committing a crime " is about as effed up a statement as I've read on here.
Sorry to upset your delicate sensibilities.

I also looked up the LEGAL definition of "weapon", and it is "something used to injure, defeat or destroy......."
In that context my gun is a potential weapon. In the first definition it IS a weapon as it is a means of defense. LEGAL defense.
ETA:
Is the charge of "illegally carrying a concealed weapon" not a crime? If the gun is not a weapon until it is used to " injure, defeat or destroy" someone, how is this charge legal? is the wording of the charge therefore wrong?
