I like the idea of taking lots of pitches one time through the lineup, then make adjustments if necessary from there. Compare the scouting report with what you've seen once through the lineup. If a pitcher isn't known for walking guys, and he's getting ahead of the hitters so far this game, I'd get more aggresive early in the count. It also needs to be a case by case basis with whose at hone plate.
If I'm facing Aaron Nola, I'm first pitch swinging until he shows he's gonna throw breaking ball or change up first pitch.

Totally agree with everything you said except taking pitches first time through. I may go with a patient approach and be an anticipatory hitter sitting on one pitch one zone. But if I get it im cutting down on it 100 times in a row. Even if it's the first pitch. with the talent we have walking in the box we can do damage with those types of pitches. No need to just take and wait on a better one for later. That was the type of pitch you'll be hoping you get later. And you did say a case by case basis so I'm def not saying your wrong. I just think there is a HUGE different between a patient approach and "taking pitches".

LSU's a good example of why it's too early to obsess about RPI/SOS. On Tuesday, LSU was No. 30 in RPI, 249 in SOS. Today, 21 in RPI, 200 SOS

Nothing wrong with that. My contention was that we weren't looking for pitches in a good hitting zone, in many cases we were swinging at the first fastball or strike regardless of location. Not all strikes are good pitches to hit, especially early in the count. It was the norm through the first few weeks and really hurt us Thursday. But from Friday on it has been much better and I thought they did a great job of laying off some borderline pitches from Killian and Jackson Saturday.

5. Throw a dart at LSU’s offensive stats and pick that.
It’s remarkable that LSU has even lost three times. Paul Mainieri’s team is leading all of Division I with a .332 team batting average, which is so high as to be almost incomprehensible. You could talk about how, 25 games into the season, they’ve got not one but two players — Kade Scivique and Andrew Stevenson — still hitting over .400. You could also talk about how three of the 20 hardest players to strike out — Scivique, Mark Laird and Alex Bregman — are Tigers, while all the other Power Five conference schools together have two players in the top 20. Or how Bregman, the team’s shining light, is actually dragging down the team’s numbers slightly with his .327 batting average and .393 OBP.
The Tigers are outhitting their opponents by 110 points, outslugging them by 195 points and outscoring them by more than four runs a game. Those numbers will likely decline as they get deeper into SEC competition, but then again, they did just drop 18 runs on Ole Miss and 16 runs on Arkansas.

The second level first aid station at Alex Box is being converted into another #LSU team shop
who needs first aid when we can sell more stuff?

It's more probable that Laird and Stevenson are back next year than both of them being gone.

Laird is coming back no doubt. Stevenson is a slight chance of leaving but he most likely stays as well.

Scivicque returning to practice today. Should play this weekend
Mainieri said he's unsure of the status of Alden Cartwright (flu) and Hunter Devall (back) for the weekend
so, Ibarra got Cartwright sick?
Paul Mainieri said he'll stick with Chris Sciambra as lefty DH. If Deichmann has a role, "it'll likely be as a pinch hitter.

Need to ratchet up that defense if we want to go deep in Nebraska

Fitt’s Top Seed
1. Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt University logoI still believe the Commodores are the most complete team in college baseball, and I expect them to finish at or near the top of the SEC, which will cause their RPI to jump from its current spot (No. 12).

Deichmann wwas interviewed and hinted that he'll replace Sciambra in the lineup when we face lefties. There are no lefty starters this weekend to go against.

Seems odd since he is also LH. I think Zardon will take Sciambra's place if they play matchups.

I agree. Let me see if I can find the article. Maybe he meant he and Sciambra would split the DH role.
