2002 Chevy Cavalier, i took the master cylinder off the brake booster then accidentally hit the brake pedal with it off. Now the brakes are not working, the pedal just goes to the floor. How do i correct this? TIA

Was the master cylinder bad.

You probably forced air into the system. Try bleeding the brakes, then topping off as needed.

No. I disconnected the MC just to move it out of the way. I was replacing the gear shift cable and could not get to it any other way.

Go to YouTube and watch a video on how to bleed the brakes.

Did you drain the master cylinder or do anything that introduced air into the hydraulic system?

if you got air into the master cylinder, you need to bench bleed the master cylinder, and then bleed your brakes

Not that i am aware of. I just disconnected it from the booster and moved the MC to the side.
I noticed the piston on the brake booster was out when i started, and it was compressed inside the booster when i put the mc back on.
