CSP vs Freedom

It's not a versus. You want both. Both earn UR points but only the CSP can transfer those points out to partners. The Freedom points can only be spent internally in the UR portal OR they can be transferred to the CSP account to be used as you wish with partners.

CSP has an annual fee. Chase Freedom does not.

Zero first year then $95 a year.

Google the cards and you can explore the benefits and fees. You can also go to the Chase, Citi or American Express sites and view all of the cards and current offers and benefits.

Capital one venture card.

Double miles for EVERY purchase and has travel reimbursement.

Say you have 50k miles, buy a $500 flight on united.com with your venture card. Get United miles and venture miles with purchase. Within 90 days of the purchase go cancel out the purchase with your miles.

So in summary, no travel restrictions, get airline and credit card miles even when redeeming your miles, and every dollar spent gets you double miles.

Also, you can get cash back from your rewards if you want. Can also combine miles from capital one rewards bank accounts with credit card miles.

It's the bomb

The Barclaycard Arrival trumps that since you get 10% of the miles you redeem back

If you spend enough and have the travel expenses, 2.2% on everything no limit with the Barclay arrival plus is my go to card.

You can apply your miles to any purchase that is labeled as travel for up to 120 days after the transaction. Plus points for purchases usually appear within 5 days.

If you don't spend enough for the 0.2% to cover the annual fee. It seems like the citi double cash card could be a good deal. I currently do not use it.

Couple of questions:

1. You guys that have multiple cards. Is it hard to monitor all these accounts for fraud? Ive had a few friends recently that were getting $1 to $4 charges every few days on a card and didnt notice it for a few months. Do you take the time to review all of your bills?

2. Anyone know of a way to pay student loans with a credit card? Greatlakes.com doesnt allow it on their website.

I keep track of all of my finances on Mint. Makes the question of multiple cards merely academic.

Also: Should I route my mortgage payments through the card, then pay down the card immediately with renter income?

If you figure out how to pay your mortgage with your card please let us know.
