My brother's been smoking for years. He knows it's horrible, but he feels no urgency to quit. I know it will be his demise if he keeps up the habit. Do any of you have any success stories with getting a loved one to kick the habit?

Give him a crack pipe. Cigarette habit eliminated.

honestly, there is absolutely nothing that you can do....it is just like any other addiction in that he has to be the one to make up his mind to do it...

Cut his lips off. If that fails then kill him.

I'm sure there is. But you would think that they are better for you than cigs. I smoked and switched to an ecig which helped me ween off almost completely.

Former smoker here, there is nothing you can do. My wife hounded me, oldest step daughter even told me many times she wanted me to quit so I wouldn't die. I tried to quit then, but didn't wanna quit myself. Once I finally got ready to quit on my own, 3 times later I got chantix and quit.

Sure wish I had a great story to tell you. Both my parents quit too late and died of lung cancer. That's just how smoking ends.

He'll quit eventually.

Sucks for you and everyone else who cares about him.

Get his doctor involved. My mom smoked for 50 years. We begged her to stop, she tried a few times, always unsuccessfully. Her doctor told her she needed to quit, and that's all it took. She hasn't had a cigarette since.
