Anyone catch any endangered snapper this past weekend? Just looking for reports as I only saw one posted so far over on THT and nothing on LA Sportsman. Gonna try and get out there easter weekend.

Caught some nice ones out of Venice. Pretty damn easy

I've seen several pictures of nice snappers caught.

Fri-Sat 5 man limit 15-25 lbs under half an hour. Wanted to go Sunday but didn't like the weather so ate breakfast and then caught some red fish close to camp.

Snapper was cake out of venice this weekend. No point in going out before at least 10am though, very thick fog.

Funny you say that because we got stuck on a mud flat for 4 hrs, so let's just say we were waiting on the fog to lift.

Wasn't in tiger pass, was it?

Is that a polite way of asking a/s/l?

Nah, obligatory because your handle is awfully similar.
That said,
a/s/l?

we tried to catch some smaller snapper (lane, mangrove) at the short rigs and in the process wound up boating 40-50 red snapper many of them decent sized even though we were in <80' of water. caught our keepers out in 350' though.
you can't fish with dead bait in LA without boating a thousand of those frickers. we were wading through them to try and get at other fish.

Just be careful going in/out the river, because the fog comes and goes at a moments notice. Make sure you know how to use a radar, or be prepared to beg people over the radio for an escort home. High water in the river = a lot of debris, too.
ETA: btw the river traffic channel is 13. emergency is 16.

I will be running out of Cocodrie so worries about the river just don't know if there will be anything red within the 10 mile rigs. Might have to run closer to grand isle/fourchon just a lil extra gas and beer.

We essentially gave up on redfishing along the coast b/c of the fog and said screw it lets try snapper. headed south/east until we hit 100ft of water and went to the closest rig and dropped some squid and caught snappers with ease
