2nd chances have killed the Pels all game, 25-6

That was Joel Meyers with less than a minute to go talking about the Points off Offensive Rebounds disparity, because even though Ajinca puts up decent rebounding numbers he does not keep the opposing team off the boards like Asik does.

Today the Clippers had 16 offensive boards vs. the Pelicans 9. The previous 2 games in which Asik had played, the Pels won the offensive rebounding battle handily 12-6, 14-9. There were many reasons this game was lost, from the terrible refs to the bad turnovers, but you guys really need to stop undervaluing rebounding. Ajinca had a "good rebounding game" with 10 boards in 26 minutes, but in spite of that the Clippers scored a ton of points off rebounds. A lot of what Asik does for the team isn't obvious, that doesn't mean it doesn't matter.

I wish we had a better option at center than Asik too, but acting like he's Stiemsma is pure idiocy.

Regardless of this, we still need an upgrade at center. Asik is serviceable but not as good as his price tag suggests he is.

8.3 mil is too much for him? really? he's like the 20th highest paid center in the NBA. dude makes less than Jordan Hill.

I know. You've pounded it in our heads all year that there is no real upgrade out there. Asik is not the answer, neither is Ajinca. IMo, they're both backups. One just costs about 4xs as much.

This is gonna be an interesting off season. Asik can just walk if he wants to. Will Gordon opt out? Absolutely need a new coach. Will the new coach believe Ryan and Tyreke are in the plans going forward?

Asik IS the answer.

The problem with the team is not Asik. I'm telling you, if they let Asik go, they'll be making a big mistake.

If the Pelicans fired Monty and hired Thibodeau, the defense would be like night and day, and Asik would be anchoring it.

With the right coach, Asik will impress you as a defensive center.

A team built around multiple penetrating guards really does need a better finisher at center (or perhaps better passing guards as Gordon seems to make Asik look decent). I'm not saying you have to move Asik, but if you keep him you really need to change other parts of the roster and the way the offense is run.

AD, Asik, Jrue, and EG are a solid starting core 4. need a solid starting SF. need to get rid of Reke. already have 4 NBA caliber bench players in Ryno, Cunningham, Cole, and QPon.

Well ajinca too of course vut he might not stick around.

I wouldn't hate babbitt as a 10th/11th man. He's made some decent strides.

yeah I guess Ajinca too. would need a capable backup 2 guard then and maybe another PG.

I disagree. The Rockets' whole offense was based on dribble penetration.

Harden, Lin, and Parsons would relentlessly attack the rim. They lead the league in points in the paint and also led the league in 3's.

Asik was great in that system.

Thankfully backup 2s are plentiful

Just one that can shoot and can play decent defense

That's why I said the problem might also be the passing ability of our guards. Jrue seemed to have good chemistry with AD, I don't really recall much with Asik but Jrue just has missed so many games.

Exactly right. He's on the end of too many dump offs in the lane. That's just not his strength. It's setting him up to fail. And to me, that leads to Monty not trusting him and leaving him on the bench when the game is on the line when we need stops.

It is nice to have a perspective of someone who actually had Asik on their team and isn't constantly worried about offensive production.

Asik is the 20th highest paid center in the league and half of this board wants to bitch and complain he's not worth the money.

When asked who else would you have had, they'd say something like Steven Adams and Hassan Whiteside.

Yeah because we would have drafted Adams and Whiteside has an uncontrolled temper that makes KG look sane.

Oh frick I was looking at the wrong salary . Well, I still think we should look elsewhere at the center position. I just cannot stand Asik's stone hands on offense. If only we could land someone like DeAndre Jordan. Guess that's too much to wish for
