I am about 4 weeks into growing my beard and my hairs are starting to flare upwards. This is particular noticeable on the ends of my mustache and I'm trying to avoid the Rollie Fingers look. Would beard oil fix this problem? This is the longest I've made it so any pro grooming tips are appreciated.

Better make sure that dirty hippy isn't starting a drum circle in your yard.

I had the same thing, longer hair does settle somewhat, but they will still be curly. The shorter hairs will stick out of the sides too.

Beard oil does relax the hair, but not enough this early along. It is more for smell and conditioning. Go find a good beard balm. It is more for styling while still doing some conditioning. Go look at the beard board on reddit, lot of growing advice and product advice on there. If it is really serious, get something like a mustache wax and use it on the whole beard to style it how you want. I use a Balm when I want to have it perfect.

I had a short beard(1-2months) for about a decade., I've been growing for length since last April. Cut 1.5 inches off a month ago to try and shape it a little better. Don't let the smooth skins get you down. A beard does a lot for a man. Protects your neck in battle, keeps you warm in winter, and makes women putty in your hands.

Beard oil would help.
But first, just condition it every time you wash your hair. And you should be washing the beard with shampoo like you would hair, not body soap. When I wear mine longer I usually wash with shampoo, then put conditioner in, let it sit finish washing myself, then rinse conditioner out last. Comb it all down after you get out and dry it. It'll help.

I don't really need beard oil unless it's like hunting season/jesus long or if it's really dry out and I've been swimming in chlorine a lot or something. I don't really ever use oil, just beard balm, and even then I only use it when the beard is longer and it's drier out.

We're at that humid time of year and it's getting warmer, so I keep it under 1/2" right now.
