I was going through Conroe, TX today and saw a billboard for HEB Grocery Stores that said they "Have the best crawfish."

Out of curiosity I called. Live crawfish in Conroe, TX is @2.97/lbs.

So I called Tony's... $3.19/lbs.

How can the people in Conroe get their "LIVE" crawfish cheaper than Tony?

Gas prices are down? Plenty of rain? Weather not too cold?

Our Governor is in a wheel chair so we get the Federally Mandated ADA Discount.

HEB sells crawfish for less than they paid for them to get you in the store

exactly. they are taking the hit on the crawfish knowing 90% of the people will buy the fixins and seasonings there plus beer and ice.

another reason why HEB is the GOAT

They also may get them for cheaper because of the volume they buy distributors are willing to sell at smaller margins.

When HEB first started selling them some of the restaurants would go and buy 50 sacks at a time since they were cheaper than wholesale. They eventuallly cause on a put a limit

Also when the peeling plants slow down. HEB or big box stores will take peelers and sell to public.
