Kobe's 81 is worth mentioning.

LSU 188 HR's in 1997.

Wilt Chamberlain's 100 point game. Followed closely by Wilt Chamberlain's claim of having slept with 20,000 women.

I always mention this record in these type of threads. It is just incredible.

On May 9th, 1999, Marshall McDougall from Florida State went 7-7 with 6 HRs, 16 RBIs, and 25 total bases.

quote:

Obviously, Marshall McDougall had a lot of good games in 1999. But none came close to surpassing his game on May 9th. He started off with a single to left in the top of the first inning. No one could have known at the time, but that was the only “underachieving” at bat he had all day. The rest of his day looked like this:

2nd inning – solo home run (his 18th of the season)
4th inning – three-run home run (#19)
6th inning – two run home run #20)
7th inning – three run home run (#21)
8th inning – grand slam (#22)
9th inning – three-run home run (#23)

And if you’re wondering whose record, he broke, it was Henry Rochelle of Campbell University who hit five homers in a 1985 contest against Radford. With his 16 RBIs in one game, McDougall set another record, surpassing the old mark of 14 set by Jim La Fountain of the University of Louisville in a game against Western Kentucky on March 24, 1987 (La Fountain hit three grand slams that day, so he still has his name in the record books for that achievement). McDougall’s 25 total bases is yet another NCAA record.

That is not a record for wins in a season. I know Old Hoss Radbourne won 58 games in a season once. I think some pitcher once got like 60 or 64.

I disagree, there is a really good chance it will be broken next year.

Gretzky scored 50 goals in 39 games. The previous record was 50 in 50.

Had to bump this for a remarkable achievement that most people don't know about.

While at Ohio State, Jesse Owens broke three world records and tied another...in 45 minutes.

Cael Sanderson went 159-0 in collegiate wrestling winning 4 national titles along the way (99-02.) The only person to ever go undefeated throughout their career. And a 2004 Olympic champion. That NCAA record will not be touched. wikipedia page

I wouldn't say it's as impressive as some individual records posted, but the Braves 14 straight division title streak is absurd

Not impressive, but one that will never be broken is Bobby Cox's ejection record.

Stuff like this is ridiculous. How do you know? It's not fathomable that out of the 7 billion people on this Earth and more to come that their could be a hot-head, blowhard who breaks the record?
