Reported by ESPN. Why would you do this? Seems like he'd have a hard time getting recruits that don't plan on being one and done.

They've had an assistant lined up to take over for him for quite some time I thought

Not hard when you can only recruit like 2 players

does 3 years coincide with the end of the sanctions? If so, good of him to stick around for that.

Yes, Mike Hopkins has been coach-in-waiting for a few years now. From a few buddies on previous teams, they implied he was the brains behind a lot of what Syracuse does.

Sounds like to me the Chancellor has decided to let Boeheim suffer through the sanctions, when sanctions end hire new coach. Your ability to hire a coach now under the 3 years of sanctions is the only reason he kept his job. The AD in all respects was fired and reassigned as well.

Then he should have probably ran his program correctly.

Now that we know Jim Boeheim's timetable, Mike Hopkins will not jump ship, but there was a time, not too long ago, when he was a finalist for the Oregon State job. If he was offered and accepted the position, I assume Syracuse would have reached out to him when Boeheim ultimately retired.

Yep super nice of him to stick around, get paid millions for a few more years, and ride out the sanctions he caused. St. Jim

The only thing that will prevent cheating is firing the parties responsible. The NCAA has no real authority. These coaches have a lot invested in all these programs and they can deny any allegation they want but the bottom line is they are responsible. If they know they will be fired as a result I bet you would have a lot more compliant programs.

Yea if you can't see the reason I said that there is no helping you. Obviously it was so another new coach didn't have to come in and deal with this, and likely get fired when the supporters want results.

Boeheim will still get the recruits we need. Also, in case anyone missed it, our AD Daryl Gross is out as of this morning. Not sure if he was fired or resigned, but my friends and I were never fans. He tried to make the band pay to go on a bowl trip and say that the pep band couldn't travel for basketball. Guy just had sleeze ball written all over. LINK
