I personally don't really care for him. Only movie that I really liked him in was Old School. No one else would have made Frank the Tank a living icon.

Never been a fan. I can take him when he's more of a supporting character like in Old School. His schtick grows tiresome very fast.

I think he's funny. He's an assclown for sure, but he's decently funny and he's made some hilarious slapstick comedies.
And the thing he did in Spring Training where he played on 10 teams in one day and played all 9 positions was really cool and actually less assclowny than I thought it would be.

I enjoy Will Ferrell movies. But like someone said, everyone has a difference of opinion when it comes to comedies. I can't stand Jim Carrey at all.
Will Ferrell was in a dark comedy called Everything Must Go that was pretty good. Had some depressing scenes though.

I can see his brand of humor not making people laugh, but I loved Talladega Nights and The Other Guys.
I also liked Stranger Than Fiction, Elf, Step Brothers, and Anchorman, though far less than the other two.
Also, I don't really put these in the same category, but Megamind and The Lego Business are fantastic.

Same routine every movie gets kind of old, similar to Adam Sandler movies but every once in awhile you get a classic. I think the upcoming one with Kevin Hart has some potential to be pretty good.

Looking at his body of work on IMDB, I have enjoyed or laughed at a majority of his movies.

Like others have said, Will Ferrell is hit and miss. He was great in Elf.
After watching Freaks and Geeks on Netflix, I wonder how Seth Rogen was hired for that role, and how he had a career after that. I thought he was awful.

Completely agree on Carell. He pretty much never makes me laugh. Other people reacting to what he does makes me life. That's fine, but when I watch him act, I truly get the feeling that he thinks he's hilarious. And he isn't. At all.
