An Idaho woman who is suspected of beating a hunter's falcon to death with a beaded scarf after she saw it take down a duck is facing a misdemeanor charge that the pet's owner thinks is too lenient.
Patti MacDonald, 60, of Hauser, was charged with beating or harassing an animal after authorities say she fractured the skull of an eight-year-old falcon named Hornet on January 7.
Hornet's owner, Scott Dinger, said MacDonald should be charged with killing a protected species

Craig Walker, a regional conservation officer for the Idaho Fish and Game Department, said he received an anonymous call from a woman saying she tried to save a duck from a falcon.

'The woman later stated that she had been very upset about the duck being injured, but felt bad about injuring someone's pet, because she 'beat the crap out of it really hard.'"

So, I guess she knew it was a bird used for falconry from the get go. But I wonder if she would have tried to save a duck from a wild falcon as well.

I'm sure this guy could easily sue this lady. Falconers have to keep pretty strict logs and he could prove how much he put into training and keeping the bird.

But if he had killed her shite eating dog he would be facing jail time and a felony.

Stake her to the ground, find a willing bird of prey and let it have at her.

Haha. That's not for me to decide if it happens, but it does appear she has a red Jeep Wrangler. He can take that. Ha.

Wait until she tries to get a loan. The loan generator will be happy to roll it into her mortgage.

Dinger said he isn't interested in pursuing monetary compensation for the loss of Hornet. He would like the woman caught and prosecuted for what she did, but added that he plans on being in the courtroom "begging the court to have mercy on her" because he thinks she doesn't deserve jail time.
"I've been done wrong. But my bird didn't really have a voice," Dinger said. "I want to bring awareness to the people out there that don't like hunting. That's fine, whatever you're into in your life, I respect that, so please respect what I do. I wasn't flaunting it, it was a natural act that I just happened to be facilitating."

Dinger sounds pretty grounded; just wanting people to learn to do right.

I know nothing about hunting with falcons, but I'm sure its cost a pretty penny to own one, plus the time put in training the bird.

Not sure why one would be so offended over that. They are predator birds, they do the same thing in the wild.

She deserves a hefty charge, and/or jail time for this.
