I have put this off for too long, but I intend to start carrying regularly. So, I need your expertise in both weapon and holster that would work best for my situation.

Some details that might help: I wear scrubs and boots at work ~75% of the time.

TIA fellas

Pretty sure that would be pretty conspicuous through my scrubs, no?

It's not banned in all hospitals, much less small clinics and surgery centers.

Absolutely. IMO, boots are the most comfortable if you're standing the majority of the day. Plus if I get blood/guts/etc on them, I can just spray them off.

I prefer to carry mine in the 5 o'clock position because it shows everywhere else. My gun in mid-sized though

Which caliber do you plan on carrying? Do you prefer that the gun have an external safety?

Develop a relationship with an attorney you can call day or night if needed. Don't wait until after an event to go thumbing through the yellow pages.

NRA has a list of recommended attorneys in each state.

This would be great in your situation. A very thin, lightweight 9mm would do just fine.

Then again, my dad wears scrubs at work and pocket carries a 380 everywhere he goes. So even though the firepower isn't on par with 9mm, the portability of a 380 wins out for him.

Having to wear scrubs so much of the time makes things problematic. Pretty much rules out the usual methods of cc, outside waistband, inside waistband, other methods of belt carry and shoulder holster; few folks who start w/ an ankle holster continue to use it long term. Pocket carry is also a problem w/ scrubs. In my experience, the pockets in scrub suits are too shallow so that "things" frequently fall out of the pockets when one sits down; this holds true even w/ thigh pockets. Belly band type device (or those t shirts I've seen that have a holster sewn into them) are feasible. I've never used it and am basically uneasy w/ it, but "Smart Carry" might be an option, as well. Can you wear a "fanny pack?" As far as guns, my first rec would be a single stack 9mm (like the Shield) if you can comfortbly carry it. If not, I'd look at a pocket 380. In this situation, I'd personally, feel more comfortable w/ a a gun has a double action only type action and that an external safety lever. A lightweight snub nose w/ +P 38 Spec is also an option, as long as you learn the manual of arms adequately.

I have a couple of these undershirts with the built in holster that I wear walking or bike riding. They would be good under a loose scrub. They can get a little warm sometimes.

In scrubs I'd go with a .380 like the LCP Custom. Not an ideal gun but scrubs limits your option at work

They make a tactical holster that now goes under scrubs, warmups, and the like. Goes around your whole waist, no need for a belt.
