I have told Sic many many MANY times why I stopped carrying about College football years ago... I just wish he would stop being a little bitch about it anytime it's brought up. I might still watch a few games during the season (and when I do I cheer for LSU more than any other team) but for goodness sake I just can't get into like I did when I was in grade school with my insane sports fan parents.

It also doesn't help that my dad was an alumni of his team, I have ZERO connections to any of them, except a Div. 2 school, and I live in a state where sidewalk-fanaticism is a reaaaaal problem.

eh, he might have gone to bed hungry, but it wasn't because he wasn't offered food during the day.

Yeah. He said it in an interview after a game.

I'm all for compensating the players more, but not for that bullshite reason.

anyone that has ever spent any time on a Div. 1 campus knows that the athletes are basically walking around doing whatever they want, whenever they want, with whoever they want. It's like their 5 years of fame and some of them get to go make millions of dollars... BUT, that's not all of them, some of them are honest, and some of them are (get) screwed.

and I believe something should be changed...

well more like get, not are

One of the biggest things I can think of are students at schools like mine - Div. 2 school, promised a full education, get a full ride scholarship. They show up and get enrolled by their admissions director for a "General studies" degree their freshmen year, they are always at some practice or off doing stupid stuff, and never realize their degree is a joke.

At UNA there were even classes "that athletes" took... this classes didn't teach them jack squat - but it sure did help them get the credits to graduate with "general studies" by the time their eligibility was up.

These athletes were never going anywhere, they have like a 0.000000001% chance at going pro, but even with these odds, none of them are doing anything meaningful right now... any of them that I was friends with in college are waiting tables, selling cars, working at walmart... none of them have done anything for themselves, because none of them were taught the skills I was in college, they were just taught how to be a college athlete and "get by."

and then.. there's the whole "welp, you are injuried" thing

Good Luck Paying for that

Or lose your scholarship, not finish your degree, and still be left with the financial burdon of the prolonged injury...

there is even more than this, but this is just a few things of a very long list

How many times has this actually come up? And when you bring it up to me in texts, you'll notice I typically don't reply

This can be said for a lot of students that aren't athletes too. I agree but it applies to more than just athletes.
