It seems like he was a guy they wanted to get rid of, and with his low salary I keep thinking there must have been a reason.

Maybe it had something to do with him always going down after catching the ball.

the Dolphins were fixing to get rid of Mike Wallace who was way overpaid.

Stills is a lot cheaper and they were also having to unload other players because of all the money they threw at Suh.

this isn't the whole reason obviously but it ties into it.

and having Jeff Ireland in the FO office now who used to wrok for them... he definitely went to bat for Ellerbe.

Lack of effort outside of gameday, from my unreliable sources. He apparently was the exact opposite of a gym rat type guy, he may have been the first one out, last one in man. Didn't watch enough tape and didn't work hard enough during the week

I hate the trade but they had to have their reasons. I think he was just immature a possibly a bad influence on Vaccaro.

This offseason is all about getting rid of anyone with a potential to create a rift in the locker room like last season.

If Brees wanted him gone, so be it. I hate it, and wish we could have tried to rehabilitate him, but I don't know how bad it really was and the cancer was systemic throughout the team last year. Junior is only hear because of dead money.

That's not the reason. You don't trade a former 5th rounder, who has proven to be a play-maker and on a rookie contract, just because someone throws a 3rd round pick at you.

I thought he had a good work ethic and knew what it took to be a pro because his dad and uncle were both in the NFL. That's what had always been said.

This. And it's not like Ellerbie is all world or anything.

I heard he didn't give 100% and that didn't sit well with Brees. What Brees wants Brees gets.

He is a me guy and as you can tell by our current roster moves SP is getting rid of them. Kinda surprised vaccaro's name wasn't mentioned, I'm guessing rob said not to touch him.

Vaccaro's pretty clearly on thin ice but he's also a 1st rounder and not a 5th so he'll get more chances

It sounds like Vaccaro's isn't too far gone. If they can get rid of the other guys, they feel like they can get him to buy in.

I don't understand the Stills trade either, but I trust that there is something that I don't know. Regardless, I trust payton and Loomis have a plan so I'm just going to sit back and watch it play out.

He's had one good year and one bad year. He got benched pretty publicly, and, along with Gallete, was one of the players on D that rumbles escaped the locker room about...

when shite gets public with a Payton team you can assume it's bad. He'll get more chances though.
