Just like Lance Moore, Stills was created by Drew Brees. Do I think he is a good receiver, definitely, is he great? NO.

He can be replaced just like any of the other receivers on this team. Plus, I felt like Stills and Cooks were sort of the same player. Hopefully this means we'll use Cooks as our deep threat now.

Cooks hands should be blistered by how many catches he has.
To not be in the top 5 in catches is a waste of his talent and the pick.

I trust Sean Payton to draft WR talent mor ethan any other position on the team. With Drew, that talent willbe maximized.

I say trade away all our WRs for other positions then get them back after they go under perform somewhere else with a worse OC and QB. (only half-way joking)

Must be one hell of a restructure. He's not getting paid anywhere near what his contract is.

He knew that the Dolphins would cut him if they couldn't move him. To move him he knew it would require a restructure. It was get cut and jeopardize career or take a cut and still get paid.

Holy hell some national NFL people really think Kenny Stills is amazing. Not knocking him but some are talking like he's irreplaceable.

he was young and cheap

and

Stills' career 82% catch% on balls thrown to him behind LOS + 0-20 yd range is best in the NFL since at least 2007

Kenny Stills also isn't just a deep threat. Had fourth-highest catch rate (78.8 percent) among WRs last season. Not bad fit for Tannehill.

quote:

From the 10 catchable deep (20+ yards in the air) passes thrown to Kenny Stills in 2014 he produced 9 catches for 370 yards with 2TDs

Its obvious that this trade was not about his skills which were good and getting better or needing a 3rd round pick but about him and the locker room.
I don't see it any other way.

I dont know how you got that, i never once said i didnt like the trade. I was explaining the hype Stills is getting. Considering they got a 3rd, I think it was quite obvious he was valued that way.

I do like the trade, but I doubt they were going to cut him. His cap hit this year was $7.4 mil, with $11.6 mil in dead money if they cut him.

Cutting him would have had the same cap ramifications as trading him. $2.8m accelerated, $4.2m total dead, saving them from his $8.4m base salary.

He's 23, not a fat over 40 guy with a midlife crisis. Why would he have a goatee

A goatee does not go with that dress.

With or without his restructure? I have a basic understanding of how these things work, but I am far from an expert.

I've been onboard with all the trades/cuts so far but this one sucks imo.

Unless he was truly a headache, which maybe he was, this was a bad trade. No one in the 3rd round is going to produce more.

Ellerbe is almost 30 and coming off a major injury. Don't like it.

Releasing Stills and letting Walker go without a tender are going to hurt. Even if we replace Stills, I think we got the raw end on this trade.

The restructure only affects our cap. For the Dolphins, a cut and trade would have the same cap effect.
