So with all the trades, FA signing of Browner, the draft will go like...

I see us badly needing an OG, ILB, and OLB, plus we could use a WR and TE. I see it shaking down like:

Pick 13: Scherff or Collins
Pick 31: best ILB or OLB (plenty good available)
Pick 44: best opposite pick of pick #31 (ILB or OLB)
Pick 75: best TE available

Remaining picks for WR or backup positions.

I'm pumped about this draft and can care less about losing JG. This team will be twice as good as last year by being able to protect Brees and run the ball, plus Brees won't lock on Graham as his first option then look to see if anyone else is open.

McKinney from Miss St. would be fantastic.

And with Grubbs being traded, I think that all but assures the Saints select Scherff or Collins if available at 13. After that its a crap shoot with these guys.

In theory, yeah, it would be awesome to have the BPA each pick be in the order of your needs. But as we all know the draft will go nothing like this. I'm at least hoping for Scherff at 13 and an ILB with 31 or 44.

Have yourself an upvote

No doubt #13 will be OG. I hope Collins so the LSU homers will relax. But I'm hoping we can somehow manage Dorial Green-Beckham along with a MLB with #31/44. Plenty of TE's in the 3rd and beyond

No idea but I feel like our near-universal assumption that they go OL at 13 pretty much guarantees that won't be what happens.

Don't you guys think there's a chance that they decide to plug Lelito in to replace Grubbs and hope that Unger's better skill set means Jahri gets better because he's not being forced to compensate for Goodwin's sorry arse?

If that's what they're thinking then they probably don't go OL at 13, right?

Not sure why everyone think swe are going OL in the first. You can find great guards in the 2nd-4th. We will take someone who can get to the QB at #13.

I guess we could go with a LB if there is someone we thought would be gone by 13, but I don't think they want to experiment with Lelito or the 31st pick or 2nd rounder if the whole point all along was to get back to having a dominant offensive line. Having one of the top two O-lineman in the draft is way better than a weak link by getting someone later in the draft.

Scherf and Collins are elite. The idea of passing on them is laughable. Both of them can also switch to right tackle.

My fellow Gamecock AJ Cann would be a steal in Round 2 and should be available. Think we should go defense/defense in 1st round.

I would not call them elite. Scherf is atheltically limited and while a very good prospect based on technique, he is not elite. It is much easier to find guards and right tackles later in the draft than it is to find pass rushers.

Lelito has played well at guard. The whole point of trading graham was to get a C and to be able to get better on defense. Unger helps solidify our line. You still get a weak link in the top of the draft. Most rookie guards do not dominate. Look at Cooper and Warmack, they were supposed to be locked in safe picks, perrenial probowl guards and they are average.

Again, it is much easier to find a good guard or right tackle in rounds 2-4 than it is to find a pass rusher.

right so... Armstead, Evans, Unger, Lelito, Streif....

Defense with #13 right?

Certainly not crazy.

We really need an upgrade in the WR corps. Are we looking at any in free agency? If not, I'd hope they take A. Cooper if he falls to 13.

We should not be looking to draft TE until 5th round or below. There aren't too many Jimmy Grahams out there.

I think they go with either Scherff or Collins at 13. At 31, I would go ILB. Either McKinney or Stephone Anthony would be great. At 44 take Bud Dupree if he's still available. I'm hoping DGB slips all the way to 75 and we take him.

13: Scherff or Collins
31: McKinney or Anthony
44: Bud Dupree
75: DGB

Well, let's look at it this way:

Brees and Ingram basically have 2 years you can count on, before Drew gets a little too old, and Ingram begins to break down.

Is Lelito better in 2015 and 2016 than a rookie guard, even a good one? I think he might be; doesn't have the ceiling, but that's not relevant. Hell, we all basically accept that the immediate post-Brees era will suck, so let's assume they make a big push for this year.

So- who can make an immediate impact at 13? At 31?

This is how I feel as well. Not saying twice as good, but we will be better.
