For people who live/have family or visit new roads...what are yalls opinions of it? I have a buddy who just moved near there and it seemed like a pretty cool little town but is there really that much to do around there?

MIL's family is from there. Its always a great time on the river and the city itself is neat. one of the hidden gems in LA.

I wouldn't suggest going to the Sugar Shack Bar.

I've lived in the area for the last 17 years. I honestly love it. It has everything you need but still is a small town. It has its flaws, but if you want quiet living, take a look at some of the surrounding areas. I live in the Glynn/Rougon/Lakeland area.

ETA: it can be pricey to move in the area

I have a lot of family from there. If you like the small town vibe, it's nice.

Personally, i'd live there before living in any of the 'cities' in La., and Im more of a city type guy. They're all trash.

I mean it seemed like a nice area and false river is right there but there just doesn't seem like much for a mid 20s single guy to do there. I could be completely wrong though

Used to do business with somebody there. Thought it was a pretty neat little area.

Beautiful, but remote. Not a ton of places to work nearby and not really much in the way of nightlife. It's a great place to live, though, if you have a job in the area and love to fish and boat with your family

I have a good friend from there. We go hang out on False River and have a good time a few times a year.

Could never live there, though. His sentiments are the same, he doesn't plan on going back (he lives in New Orleans).

I have a shite ton of family out there. Nice small town with resources.

Like said before a lot of single middle aged women.

And LOTS of small town gossip.

Lived there for 3 years, I love it, however there is not a lot of what you need there. There is a super wal mart, which helps, however there is not the things you would have in a bigger town. If you are single, there is very few going out type places. Satterfields is nice, food is ok, Morels is my favorite place, good food and good, but small bar area. If you like to fish and hunt, great place for that. Depends on what you are looking for, and also depends on your expectations.
