Did LSU ever have a shot with this guy? I thought I remember his name coming up in coaching discussions.

(Not meant to be shot at Jones...just curiosity)

I think his wife is from BR. That was probably why.

Kind of funny to see the "hot" names that were thrown around during that 2008 coaching search: Anthony Grant, Travis Ford, Tony Bennett.

Bennett would've been a slam-dunk obviously. The other two are very 'meh'.

We had more than a shot. Tony got a token interview when Trent was hired. He had reservations about recruiting practices in the sec. But we had a real shot. I don't know if our fan base would have appreciated his style of play and I was concerned about that when there appeared to be a chance he'd be hired. I guess all things worked out. Very happy for him.

We hired Trent instead, he wanted the job. His wifes family lives across the street from my parents. We got the worst hire in LSU history instead of this guy. Happy wife Happy life. She is from Baton Rouge born and raised.
