I have a wired security system, about seven years old. I wanted to drop my home phone and add cellular to the system. Anyone know an add-on? The current monitoring company wants to up my plan $12 a month to have cellular monitoring. I want to drop them all together. I have searched, but all I see are new systems, I haven't found an add on to an existing system.

I did see something that would allow my cell phone to use wired land-line, I don't know if this would be a viable work around. Looking for suggestions.

Can you look inside the can and find a make and model? I have a Honeywell Vista 20p, and have hooked up an internet module to it. Not sure if you'd be comfortable going that route, or if you want to stick with cellular for power loss reasons.

alarm decoder

I'm looking to add this to my system. If you have a pc that is always on you can use it as a keypad. Just set up the "keypad" to email or text you an alert.

I know there are places that will monitor a land line for under $10 per month. Not sure how much extra for a cell line.

Im with USA/ASG, just upgraded through our cell phone, and also got the fire monitor for $36 a month. Can control alarm and hvac through cell phone, its pretty sweet. House is 7 years old as well btw. Make sure the alarm company, who ever it is, sends certification to homeowners insurance so you can get the discount. Total cost for the new thermostat and alarm touch screen was around $250.
