Who do you use and why? Is there a difference in price between the companies or is it more based on home location and what your willing to cover? Any additional advice is appreciated

I had mine though progressive (or combined somehow because I had auto with them). It kept going up and up and ended up almost $5k. I shopped and got on with farm bureau. I have a dual policy: non-hurricane coverage is with FB and my hurricane coverage is through citizens. I'm at about $1700 total. Same limits.

I fell arse-backwards into mine and couldn't be happier. Bought my first house when I moved from NOLA to the Jackson area. A website I was using to get ideas of what insurance cost would be like sold my info as a lead to an insurance salesman in Hattiesburg who worked with 3 different companies. He called me up one day out-of-the-blue, we got to talking, and he sent me some quotes from Safeco. I bundled home and auto and ended up with the same or better coverage for cheaper than what I was looking at with State Farm and All-State.
2 years later and I couldn't be happier. I've had a couple of things pop up (insurance card didn't arrive in mail, price went up, etc) and he's resolved it all within a day. I'm only here for my medical residency, but if we end up staying in Mississippi I look forward to sticking with him.

Liberty Mutual. Pay $800/yr for $600k coverage plus all electronic devices in my house. They crushed everybody, State Farm was almost $1200 without electronic coverage.

I'm more interested to know what every one is paying in New Orleans.
These Tennesseee numbers posted above are just ridiculous

Liberty Mutual.
I don't think they are writing new homeowners policies in Louisiana at this time

USAA if you can qualify. Why? Because their USAA. Had to have a roof replaced. No problems dealing with USAA. Had to have my front bumper, radiator and clear guard replaced on my vehicle. Again, no problems.
One call for each. Checks distributed shortly thereafter.

I change every 2-3 years as they continue to creep up whether I've had a claim our not. Currently with Centurai underwritten by Geico, have a 1% hurricane deductible which is what sold me.
